Methodology: how Zonscope compares Amazon prices

The 8 marketplaces we compare

We compare amazon.fr, amazon.de, amazon.it, amazon.es, amazon.co.uk, amazon.com.be, amazon.nl and amazon.ie. The same product carries the same identifier (ASIN) on all of them: that identifier, not the title, is what links the prices together.

Not every store ships everywhere, so we only show the stores that deliver to your country:

• •Amazon Netherlands delivers in the Netherlands and Belgium.
• •The French, German, Italian, Spanish and UK stores deliver to most European countries.

Where the prices come from

Prices are the ones Amazon publishes on each store, for the offer featured on the product page. Every check is kept, which lets us show a 90-day price history and place today's price within that range.

When a product is out of stock on a store, it is shown as unavailable. We never show an old price as if it were still valid.

How often prices are checked

Prices are checked when a visitor opens a product page. A check counts as fresh for 6 hours; after that, the page still shows the latest check while a new one runs in the background. The check date is shown on every product page.

A price can change between our check and your purchase: the price Amazon shows at checkout is always the one that applies.

Shipping costs

For each foreign store, we check the delivery cost to your country and add it to the price. That total, not the listed price alone, is what ranks the countries. Free delivery counts as zero. When Amazon does not state a shipping cost for your country, the total cannot include it: you will see it on Amazon before you pay.

Since Brexit, an order placed on Amazon UK and delivered in the European Union may carry import charges. We flag this next to the UK price. These charges are not added to the total, because their amount depends on the order.

How the cheapest country is chosen

The recommended country is the one with the lowest total, converted to euros, among the stores that deliver to you. We leave out prices we consider unreliable: a check too old to still be valid, or an offer priced more than 20% above what Amazon itself charges on the same product page.

A used or refurbished item is not the same product as a new one. It stays in the list, in its place and labelled "Used", but it is only named the cheapest when the product is not available new anywhere.

Converting pound sterling

UK prices are converted to euros at a fixed rate of €1 to £0.85. This rate is slightly unfavourable to the pound (the market rate was about 0.859 in September 2026): it overstates UK prices by about 1%, so we never recommend the UK because of a rounding effect.

Where the 26% figure comes from

We say the same product varies by 26% on average from one store to another. This figure is computed from our own price checks: for every product sold in at least 3 markets, we take its latest price in each market over the last 30 days, then the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive market, as a share of the most expensive price. Measured on 24 September 2026 across 57,618 products, the average gap is 26.5%.

This is the gap between the two extremes, before shipping. The real saving for a given shopper depends on which stores deliver to them and on the delivery cost.

Zonscope is free and has no ads. When you buy through our links, Amazon pays us an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. Countries are ranked on total price only: the commission, which differs from one store to another, plays no part in the calculation.
